6,000 years ago this man lived in what is now the Netherlands | FOG OF HISTORY

On this channel I show you real people who lived on our planet many years ago. For fans of Anthropology and History. Today I'm going to tell you about....

The skeleton of a man was found in Flevopolder in 1977. The burial was about 6000 years old. The man, 30-45 years old, was buried with a string of amber beads on his forehead. It belongs to the culture swifterbant, described 14 settlements belonging to this culture, but well studied only 2 of them. The others are known from exploratory pits, but have not yet been excavated.

The people of the Swifterbant culture were hunter-gatherers who already knew pottery. They occasionally used arable farming, which gradually spread from the south. The area was rich in fish and game, but among the remains of game, the bones of domestic animals such as pigs and cows eventually appear. Gradually, the way of life changed, becoming more sedentary. Piled settlements are concentrated in the lowlands near water, on the banks of rivers, near streams and swamps.
