This Scottish captive died in a dungeon 370 years ago. | FOG OF HISTORY

On this channel I show you real people who lived on our planet many years ago. For fans of Anthropology and History. Today I'm going to tell you about....

His skeleton was found in 2013 along with the remains of other captive soldiers at Durham Castle.

After the bloody Battle of Dunbar on September 3, 1650, thousands of Scots were captured and taken to Durham. Most of them died of disease and starvation. The captives were treated very poorly. Those who died in captivity outnumbered those who died in the battle itself.

Among them was this poor fellow. At the time of his death he was about 20 years old. He had suffered from dysentery and malnutrition, and his youth, which he had spent in the southwest of Scotland, as revealed by analysis of the tartar, was not well-fed either.

After all investigations were completed, his remains were reburied.
