Re: Effect of Sucralose (Splenda) on the Microbiome (cherry-picking clickbait)
Dr. Michael Greger of Nutritionfacts.org recently put out a video called “effect of sucralose (splenda) on the microbiome.” Given my defense of splenda in a past video, many have asked me to do a response, most wanting me to admit that I was wrong to defend splenda because, according to Greger’s video, it may cause weight gain, diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Sorry to disappoint, but I stand my original video, not because I’m obsessed with splenda (I actually consume a lot less than I did then since I’m rarely drinking coffee right now), but because I pay attention to scientific consensus, just like I pay attention to the scientific consensus when it comes to climate change, evolution, vaccines, and genetic modification. And the scientific consensus has not changed since I put out my original splenda video: splenda is still safe and a hell of a lot better for us than sugar.
Oh, and it’s still vegan.
