Novel Technologies to Extract Minerals and Metals from Brines of Seawater Desalination Plants
This European project will create a multimineral and modular process to separate, concentrate and crystallise Molybdenum, Magnesium, Scandium, Vanadium, Gallium, Boron, Indium, Lithium and Rubidium in seawater desalination plants. Currently Europe import minerals and metals from traditional mines that are located very far away, Sea4Value contributes to the security of supply and reduces the dependency on materials imports.
This projects also help European industry to shift towards a circular economy. Seawater brines are an enormous potential source of minerals and metals as 19,744 plants are installed worldwide.
