With the new PolyScope X platform, Universal Robots introduced a powerful and modern software architecture for their latest cobot controllers.
But one key question remains in many projects:

👉 How do we integrate PolyScope X robots cleanly into PLC- or OPC-UA-based automation environments?

I’ve developed a custom OPC UA interface for PolyScope X that enables fully bidirectional communication between the robot and external systems such as PLCs or industrial PCs.

🔧 What does this mean in practice?
• Standardized OPC UA communication
• Boolean, Integer and Double signals supported
• Robot waits for external signals and publishes internal states
• Clean handshakes, clear state models, no proprietary workarounds
• Seamless integration into existing automation architectures

In the demo, you can see a PolyScope X program that reacts to incoming OPC UA signals while simultaneously sending robot states back to the OPC UA server — transparent, deterministic, and scalable.

Especially for PLC-driven systems and complex production cells, this opens up new possibilities for structured process control and future-proof robot integration.
