Why is it called Colorado Paint Mines? Best small park in Colorado

The Paint Mines is a fantastic park located in southwest Colorado, not far from Colorado Springs.
It can get really hot in the summer, so bring plenty of water. We went there in April of this year, and it was a little cool, but it wasn't cold.

The Paint Mines restroom is located in the main entrance parking area and is open year round.
Directions: Take Hwy 24 east from Colorado Springs to Calhan, turn south on Yoder Road/Calhan Highway, turn east on Paint Mines Road and look for the designated parking area (or use Google to find it).
