Science Museum Group Annual Review 2017-2018
Over the past financial year, the Science Museum Group has celebrated science, technology and engineering with more than five million people, ground breaking exhibitions such as Illuminating India , diverse events , along with exhibitions that have travelled the world.
This highlights film, showcases the spectacular quality and impact of the efforts in our newly rebranded museums in London, Manchester, York, Bradford and Shildon, which complement the Government’s Industrial Strategy by helping to inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.
Highlights include:
The national tour of the Principia mission Soyuz capsule that brought Tim Peake back to Earth has drawn huge crowds in Bradford, Shildon, Manchester and York and Peterborough Cathedral with the support of Samsung, and with Tim’s spacesuit too.
Festivals in Bradford and London, and an annual Science Festival at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester that is now the most successful in the country.
The National Science and Media Museum, Bradford, has seen a 25 per cent uplift in visitor numbers thanks to a rebrand, new Wonderlab and Soyuz gallery.
More than 187,000 people saw the Robots exhibition in London, and 67,000 in Manchester, making it the Museum of Science and Industry’s most successful paid-for exhibition.
Superbugs: the fight for our lives, which will now tour overseas.
