Tioman Island is our closer, cheaper alternative to Maldives. Just hours away from Singapore, it is our go-to destination for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle & bustle of city life.

We have visited Tioman thrice in the past three years and we chose Japamala every single time! Tucked away in a remote corner of the island that can only be accessed by a speed boat, the resort is perfect for those seeking luxury in seclusion. The resort’s sea cliff & hillside chalets blend in seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscape. There is no WIFI or reception in any of the rooms, but you wouldn’t need them.

While at Japamla, it’s hard to pick a favorite time of the day. Snorkeling in warm, crystal-clear waters in the morning, soaking up the sun at one of the relaxing pods by the sea in the afternoon, sipping free-flow cocktails in one of the over-water pavilions at sunset and a dreamy candlelight dinner under a canopy of stars after dark – absolute bliss!
