Understanding the U.S.-South Korea Alliance
The United States' alliance with the Republic of Korea, often known as South Korea, is often viewed through the prism of the two nations' shared security interests, and the looming threat of nuclear-armed North Korea. But, says South Korean Ambassador to the U.S. Lee Soo-hyuck, the two nations share an alliance stretching back over a century -- with some very modern additions. Can the popularity of K-pop, Korean technoogy, and Korean movies and TV in the U.S. help keep this alliance strong?
