Can the U.S. Tackle the Climate Crisis and the Economy at the Same Time?

President Biden recently signed into law the Inflation Reduction Act, widely acknowledged as America's biggest ever investment in combatting climate change, with over $360 billion toward climate initiatives. What does Biden's climate policy mean for the U.S. -- environmentally and economically? What does addressing the climate crisis mean for the economy, and for competitiveness with other countries? And is the goal of acheivieng "net zero" by 2035 in the U.S. power sector realistic?

Samantha Gross, Director of the Energy Security and Climate Initiative at the Brookings Institution, says "President Biden in his efforts to deal with climate change is not just thinking about it as an environmental issue but an economic issue and an issue of global competitiveness as well."
