China and Brazil
China is building its presence in Latin America -- and notably in the continent's largest country, Brazil. What is the relationship between Brazil and China? "China has represented a source of trade for Brazil...But more recently China has become important as a source of capital flows" and investment," says Brazilian economist Otaviano Canuto, nonresident senior fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution.
