UPITN 14 6 79 POPE JOHN PAUL II VISIT

(14 Jun 1979) More than one million people attended the mass held for Pope John Paul II in his motherland. The films shows Pope John Paul's arrival in Poland, with his Cardinals, and various shots of the ceremony and mass held in Krakow. An extravagant military ceremony was held for the Pope, with the Guard of Honour and numerous officials who gathered at Krakow airport to see the Pope's departure. President Jablonski also gave a speech to commemorate the Pope's visit.
