When done in conjunction with the 90/90 horizontal abduction exercise it works to ignite an extreme muscle activation in the lateral hip muscles and can usually be used with only one or maybe two repetitions. This resistance stretching exercise is a great way to determine if a person is compensating with either their hip flexors or TFL muscles depending on how they lift their leg.
