Cette nouvelle marque indépendante avait fait un premier tour de piste dans les années 2010 avant de sombrer pendant la pandémie. Une nouvelle équipe a repris l’affaire en main pour la relancer, sur des nouvelles bases esthétiques et hydro-mécaniques. Le résultat est tout simplement éblouissant : la nouvelle Moon Runner a beau ressembler, au premier regard, à une montre « classique » [si tant est que ce mot ait un sens pour ce genre d’horlogerie conceptuelle], on comprend tout de suite qu’il s’y passe des choses étranges. Les heures sont affichées par la circulation d’un liquide dans un tube capillaire qui fait le tour du cadran. Les minutes sont indiquées par une aiguille qui fait le tour du cadran en soixante minutes (disque placé immédiatement sous les heures) : la lecture des heures et des minutes (ici, 10:10) est donc très intuitive et très logique. On découvre ensuite le mois et la date sur les anneaux centraux qui défilent sous un index blanc. Enfin, une lune tridimensionnelle, traitée dans un bleu cosmique qualité de « bleu supernova », nous dévoile ses différentes phases tout au long du mois lunaire grâce à un repère circulaire situé dans le prolongement d’une superbe arche de titane qui enjambe minutes, mois et date. Tous ces affichages se jouent sous un dôme de verre saphir dont l’épaisseur sait rester raisonnable (13,3 mm) en dépit des 48 mm de ce boîtier en titane. Il faut évidemment signaler le mouvement mécanique qui accorde la circulation du fluide des heures dans le tube capillaire (précision de l’ordre de deux à trois minutes par rapport à la course d’une aiguille classique) et les autres indications de la montre : c’est la première fois que ce mariage de l’hydraulique et du mécanique est réellement convaincant, l’expression de cette fluidité mécanisée était magnifiée par les codes esthétiques de cette Moon Runner à dominante bleue, qui est un des plus beaux nouveaux concepts horlogers de ce printemps.
