FILTER Function vs PIVOT Table - Which is Better?
FILTER Function vs PIVOT Table - Who wins?
The FILTER function in Excel is an invaluable tool, particularly when you are not in a position to rely on Pivot Tables. While Pivot Tables are powerful, they can sometimes feel cumbersome, and have their own limitations.
One challenge you face with Pivot Tables is that they don’t update automatically when the source data changes. This can lead to referring to old or incorrect analysis.
FILTER function is dynamic and immediately reflects the changes made to the source data. In this video, you’ll see two applications of the FILTER function, where it trumps Pivot Table. First, showing a range of data and how it updates automatically. Second, how you can use the FILTER function for performing aggregation and show updated data.
Adopting this method not only saves time but also empowers me to maintain control over my analysis process. As young professionals navigate their careers in data-driven environments, mastering functions like FILTER will undoubtedly enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in managing information.
