V/Line Steam Train to Bendigo; Steamrail A2 986 Driver Training Run

On the 9th October 2021 Steamrail Victoria undertook another driver training run with one of its locomotives using some H Set carriages borrowed from V/Line. This time it was A2 986's turn for a trip up to Bendigo. With a lack of rail tours operating over the past year due to COVID, it has become necessary for heritage rail operators to conduct these training runs to keep train crews qualified and to train up new drivers.
We start the video with the trip up to Bendigo where we see the train at Gisborne and Malmsbury (due to bad luck these were the only shots I got for this trip). After seeing the train shunt around Bendigo we see the trip back down to Melbourne depart Bendigo yard, at Kangaroo Flat, and Castlemaine where Victorian Goldfields Railway's J549 made a surprise appearance for a parallel run out of the station.
