Can a relationship survive political differences? In the latest episode of Bachelor Happy Hour, hosted by Becca Kufrin and Rachel Lindsay, Becca and Rachel had a difficult, uncomfortable, yet vital conversation about race and diversity within The Bachelor franchise, as well as the Black Lives Matter movement. Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin discussed Becca's fiance's, Garret Yrigoyen, opposing political and social views, due to his expression of support for Blue Lives Matter (law enforcement) and All Lives Matter. Becca Kufrin, a self-proclaimed feminist, activist and Black Lives Matter advocate, expressed that she did not condone Garrett Yrigoyen's right wing views, and that his political opinions are not ones she shares. So, it is possible to have different political views in a relationship? Is it possible to have different beliefs than my partner? Although there are successful couples with different political views and different beliefs in a relationship, I discuss my opinion on why different political views in a relationship can be difficult to navigate, and why getting your partner to understand Black Lives Matter is so essential. I share tips on how to deal with different political views in a relationship and relationship advice for couples who have different political views, while also explaining why politics in relationships can be a deal breaker for some. Navigating opposing political views and beliefs in a relationship simply comes to down to how much those views and beliefs matter to you, and how much they are a part of your core identity.
