친환경 수소경제를 위한 ‘수소 생산 기술’

Korea has established the "Hydrogen Economy Promotion and Hydrogen Safety Management Act" for the first time in the world. A lot of research institutes and companies have developed technologies and products for the production of hydrogen. And they have built a new economic paradigm. There is a company which has produced hydrogen by developing Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Water Electrolyzer. It is smaller in size and it can produce hydrogen under high pressure, so the moisture can be removed. As highly efficient and high-purity hydrogen can be obtained from the production stage, it can save additional cost necessary for hydrogen production. A domestic business has developed Commercial Steam Methane Reformer for Hydrogen Refueling Station, which can extract hydrogen and provide it to vehicles immediately in real time. Commercial hydrogen generator can produce about 250-500 kilograms of hydrogen within a day. What is more, it has commercialized a technology that can extract hydrogen from LNG, or Liquefied Natural Gas for the first time in the domestic field. After producing hydrogen with a water electrolysis technology, a membrane is necessary to separate water and hydrogen. In case of the existing membrane, hydrogen and oxygen can contact with each other through tiny holes. So there has been a possibility of explosion. And a domestic research team has developed a membrane separator which has decreased the size of micro-holes and maintained the voltage efficiency. We introduce low cost, highly efficient and eco-friendly hydrogen production technologies that are necessary to build a sustainable ecosystem for the hydrogen economy.

세계 최초로 '수소경제 육성 및 수소 안전관리법'을 제정한 대한민국! 각 연구원 및 기업에서는 수소를 생산할 수 있는 기술과 제품 개발에 앞장서며 새로운 경제 구조를 만들어가고 있다. 한 기업에서는 ‘고분자 수전해 장치’를 개발하여 수소를 생산하고 있다. 이 장치는 부피가 매우 작고 수분이 제거되도록 수소가 고압으로 생산된다. 이에 생산단계에서부터 고효율로 고순도의 수소를 얻을 수 있어, 수소 생산 비용을 저감시키는 경제적 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 수소경제의 핵심 인프라인 수소 충전소! 한 기업에서는 충전소에서 바로 수소를 추출해 차량에 공급할 수 있는 On-site 방식을 가능하게 하는 ‘대용량 상용 수소추출기’가 개발됐다. 이 수소추출기를 통해 하루에 생산할 수 있는 수소의 양은 약 250~500kg! 또한 액화천연가스에서 수소를 추출하는 방식을 처음 국산상용화에 성공한 장비이기도 하다. 또한 수전해 기술로 수소와 산소를 생산하고 나면 분리막을 이용해 섞이지 않도록 해야 한다. 그러나 기존 분리막의 경우 미세 구멍 사이로 수소와 산소가 만나 폭발 위험성이 존재했다. 이에 국내 연구원에서는 미세 구멍 크기를 줄이면서 전압 효율은 유지할 수 있는 ‘분리막’을 개발했다. 이처럼 지속가능한 수소 경제 생태계를 만들기 위해서 필요한 저비용, 고효율, 친환경 ‘수소 생산 기술’에 대해 알아본다.
