TRC Knives K1 Drop Point in ELMAX Powder Metallurgical Steel

TRC Knives K1 Drop Point in ELMAX Powder metallurgical alloy field test and review English language. The K1 is a small drop point camping/hunting utility knife made from Uddeholm's ELMAX.ELMAX is a powder metallurgical alloy steel produced by Uddeholm's SuperClean 3 process, which results in less non metallic constituents in the alloy. ELMAX has good corrosion resistance with a good resistance to edge chipping according to Uddeholm. TRC knives, as part of the alloy treatment process, has the blades cryogenically treated at -196C! This is a necessary step to achieve the best corrosion resistance according to Uddeholm. ELMAX is also purported to have good wear resistance. Check out this PDF from Uddeholm for full details:

K1 blanks are water jet cut and the K1 is hand ground and finished.
The K1 has a flat grind, very comfortable finger/thumb gimping and grippy micarta scales. The fit and finish is xlnt and I really found it a useful sized and designed knife. BCT is partial to flat grinds and drop points but I've got to say it was a nice knife to actually use. I even used it for some batoning (not shown in the video but in my blog on this knife where I write in more technical detail about ELMAX.
