LIVE: ACC | Sim Racing Srbija - GT Championship 2026 - Draft race - Paul Ricard | Onboard

I joined the draft race for the Sim Racing Srbija GT Championship 2026 in Assetto Corsa Competizione, competing in the GT4 class at Paul Ricard Circuit.

Despite having very limited experience with Paul Ricard and honestly a strange aversion toward the track for reasons I still can’t explain. Qualifying went much better than expected. After only around 20 laps of practice, I managed to set a lap time just 0.2 seconds slower than my personal best, which placed me P12 on the starting grid.

The race start was chaotic. We were told there would be a full formation lap, but instead it turned into a much shorter procedure, confusing not only me but several other drivers as well. Thanks to reacting quickly, I managed to gain a few positions right at the beginning.

From there, the race became full of clean and intense door-to-door GT4 battles. After several strong overtakes and good pace, I climbed up to P9 before the pit window opened.

Unfortunately, the pit stop completely ruined the race result. While preparing the car for the pit stop on the long straight, I got hit from behind despite driving on the edge of the track and signaling my intentions. The contact broke my concentration and triggered a chain of costly beginner mistakes:
- I miscalculated fuel and added too much fuel for the remaining race distance
- I forgot to disable damage repairs after the rear contact
- The car failed to shut down correctly on pit entry
- While trying to turn the engine off, I slightly moved the car, forcing the pit crew to reposition it before service could begin

Altogether, the pit sequence cost around 20 seconds more than expected, while carrying fuel for 7 extra laps also hurt overall pace in the closing stages.

Despite all of that, I still managed to recover and finish the race in P8.

Conclusion:
A very enjoyable and promising draft race with strong battles and solid pace, but also a valuable lesson in pit procedure management and race preparation. With better track knowledge and fewer rookie mistakes, there’s definitely more pace and positions available for the full GT Championship 2026 season if Im being drafted.
