"Kigen" is the abbreviation of "神武天皇即位紀元(Jimmu Tennō Sokui Kigen)". If it is translated literally to English, it will be like, "The Era of Emperor Jimmu's Enthronement". Emperor Jimmu is the first Emperor of Japan.
