For five years Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was the most wanted man on earth.
On October 26th 2019 Delta Force cornered him in a tunnel beneath a Syrian compound. A military dog named Conan pursued him through the darkness. Baghdadi was cornered. Detonated his suicide vest. Killed himself and two of his children.
The operation was named Operation Kayla Mueller.
Kayla Mueller was a 26 year old American aid worker who went to Syria to help refugees. ISIS captured her in 2013. Tortured her. Killed her in 2015.
The Delta Force operators who executed the mission have never been publicly identified. They went in. Did their job. Came home.
The most wanted man on earth died in a collapsed tunnel. Identified by DNA. Named by a 26 year old American woman he had destroyed.
