Visitamos al tres veces Campeón del Mundo de pesca submarina, Pedro Carbonell en la isla de Mallorca, escenario donde se han forjado grandes campeones de esta modalidad. Junto a Joan Nadal, otro pescador jubilado, muestran en dos jornadas, sus apneas infinitas en la búsqueda de la pieza más emblemática y cotizada de los fondos Mediterráneos, el mero. Para pescar el mero Carbonell utiliza la llamada pesca a la caída, que consiste en descender cayendo con sigilo sobre la presa, sorprendiéndola en aguas libres, o en la entrada de su cueva.

Este tipo de pesca, exige una técnica de aproximación muy depurada, cualquier maniobra brusca como un simple ruido o burbuja producido al compensar, puede producir la huida del pez. También exige una buena puntería porqué los tiros son generalmente largos y de arriba hacia abajo, presentando el pez menor superficie para hacer blanco.

It has been three times world champion in singles and five other times it hung gold in the team competition as part of the Spanish team. A part of spearfishing, Pedro Carbonell is specialized in fly-fishing another demanding sport. As you know, a good combination of technique and experience, are essential elements of becoming a good fisherman.

For a lot of years, Pedro Carbonell has collaborated with Reivax Films in a series of spearfishing documentaries. Currently he is ready to contribute with us in a new collectable series about hunting and fishing.
