Historic December Tornado Outbreak!

Every aspect of Dec. 15th was historic when it comes to weather here in the Midwest - personally it was everything I loved about weather rolled into one day. It’s hard for me to fully grasp just how crazy this day was so here’s a list for you.

- There has never been a tornado in December in the state of Minnesota since we’ve been keeping records. There have been at least 16 confirmed tornadoes that touched down in Minnesota.
- So far there have been 100 confirmed tornadoes from this event across 5 states
- Highways in CO and KS were shut down due to near-zero visibility from the dust storms caused by the high winds.
- Due to the dust from CO and KS it was raining muddy rain in NE Iowa!
- Most significant (75+ mph) wind gusts in a single day in the US (55+) with some of these NOT being associated with a thunderstorm.
- First-ever severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings in Minnesota in December.
- Record-breaking amount of tornadoes in Iowa for the month of Dec.
- 58 degrees, record high for Dec. 15 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Unfortunately, there were some reports of injuries with one possible fatality. Please be praying for those affected by this historic weather event.
