Depression: Medication? Talking Therapies? The Ongoing Debate | Dr Miriam Kennedy
Dr Kennedy is a dual qualified Consultant Psychiatrist in both general adult psychiatry (over 18 until 65 years) and Later Life (over 65), with a particular interest in Depression. She works with a multidisciplinary team in Highfield Healthcare as clinical lead of an innovative day hospital service. She also provides assessment and treatment for long term patients with dementia, and provides a busy outpatient service to people referred by their GPs for mental health problems.
Over many years, Dr Kennedy has focused on the role of stress in illness, on empathy, on hope and resilience factors in recovery and of non-pharmacological approaches in depression and in dementia. Her approach emphasises a holistic person-centred view.
Aware is the national organisation providing support, education and information services for those impacted by depression, bipolar disorder and other mood related conditions and their loved ones.
