Top 30 Greatest Songs 1890-1899 (According to Dave's Music Database)
It is my pleasure to present to you the Top 30 songs of the 1890s. This is a video I have wanted to do for a very long time now, but with recent copyright issues on this channel and a lack of research on 1890s music, it has been difficult to find an opportunity to create this project. I was excited to see that Dave's Music Database published a list on their blog of their selections regarding the best songs from the 1890s. A link to their blog is provided down below. The 1890s are significant for initiating an era when recording music was popularized and sold in large numbers. There are very few musical recordings before this decade. Some of the most popular acts from this decade include Arthur Collins, John Philip Sousa, Dan Quinn, George J. Gaskin, and Len Spencer. It should be noted that when music is this old, it is very difficult to compile a list of what the top 30 songs would be. There is little data regarding sales and various rewards, and this decades before the Billboard Hot 100 existed. However, this doesn't make this music any less fascinating to hear, and I hope you enjoy this countdown!
