The Monkees vs. Columbia Pictures (1989)
The Monkees were sued by Columbia Pictures in 1989 over usage of the 'Monkees' name. To update the video: the issue was settled privately and The Monkees' 1989 world tour was completed. The Monkees also received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989. In the early 1990s, Rhino Records, who has been allied with the group since the early 1980s, purchased the 'Monkees' name and the entire Monkees music/television/movie catalog.
