I am too boring to start a personal brand
I went through the top 5 limiting beliefs I heard from my students in the past month and this one stuck with me.
“A personal brand is not for me - I’m literally as boring and plain as rice cakes.”
This one made me giggle a bit, not gonna lie.
Not in a mean way — just in a “wow, if only you could see yourself the way I do” kind of way.
Because the most boring people I’ve ever met don’t say things like this. They don’t care if they’re boring or not - they’re not even self-aware enough to ask.
But the coach who said this?
She’s been through things. She has experience, depth, perspective. She just doesn’t realize that her story - the one she thinks is too “ordinary” - is actually what makes her magnetic.
Here’s what I told her (and what I’d tell you too):
Personal branding isn’t about being loud. It’s about being real.
You don’t need to have a “main character energy” personality to attract clients.
You need to be consistent in your message and have confidence in your voice, while being clear about who you help and how.
And when you show up like that?
People feel it.
Remember, you don’t need to entertain. You need to connect.
So if you’ve ever said “I’m too boring to build a brand” - I want you to sit with this:
The people you look up to online aren’t more interesting than you, they’re just more visible.
