Pasta Fagioli al Forno (baked pasta and beans)

Pasta Fagioli is a well-known pasta and bean soup. This version is not a soup; it's a baked pasta and bean dish, similar to a casserole. It has the added benefit of Italian sausage meat and Parmesan cheese. Needless to say, it is delicious — one of the best pasta dishes I ever attempted. This one is definitely a keeper, worth making every winter when the kitchen gets cold and warmth from the oven would be a welcome treat. This dish will go on my list of comfort foods.
