Tragedy Strikes Las Vegas Gym: Shooting Leaves One Dead, Three Injured

A tragic shooting unfolded at a Las Vegas gym on Friday afternoon, leaving one dead and three others injured. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the Las Vegas Athletic Clubs located on North Rainbow Boulevard. According to witnesses, chaos erupted as a gunman opened fire inside the facility, prompting frantic gymgoers to flee for their lives.

Two individuals, Gary Steward and Liam Johnson, narrowly escaped injury after stopping at a nearby nutrition store just before the shooting began. They described hearing gunfire as they approached the gym, realizing they were entering a dangerous situation.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident was reported, and one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were critically injured and taken to University Medical Center, while a third victim sought treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at a separate hospital.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials confirmed that the shooter was engaged by police and subsequently killed. Undersheriff Andrew Walsh stated that the suspect was armed and posed a threat when officers arrived, prompting them to discharge their firearms.

Witnesses recounted the harrowing experience, with one member describing the scene as "traumatizing" and another recalling the sound of gunfire that interrupted their workout. Many expressed disbelief that such violence could occur in a place they considered safe.

No officers were injured in the exchange, and the identity of the shooter, as well as that of the deceased victim, has not yet been released. The gym has been closed as the investigation continues, with the facility offering support to affected employees and patrons. An LVAC spokesperson expressed their heartbreak over the event and emphasized their cooperation with law enforcement.
