RBI New Export Rule 2026 | Non-Realisation of Export Proceeds = LC or 100% Advance Only

On 14th January 2026, RBI issued a gazetted notification bringing major changes for exporters—including relaxations and also strict compliance measures.

🔴 Important Update for Exporters
If an exporter:

- Fails to realise export proceeds within 1 year, OR
- Takes an extension beyond 1 year from the bank,
- And still does not receive the payment,

👉 Then all future export transactions will be allowed ONLY:

- Against Letter of Credit (LC), OR
- With 100% advance payment

⚠️ This is a critical compliance update that can directly impact your export business.

📌 Key takeaway:
- Always be extra cautious while exporting to new or risky geographies.
- Prefer 100% advance payment or secured payment mechanisms to avoid future restrictions.

Stay tuned as we decode more RBI updates, one notification at a time.
