Why You Should NEVER Share Your Import-Export Code (IEC) | IEC = PAN Explained | Swati Panji

📌 Let’s Decode the Import-Export Code (IEC)

1️⃣ What is IEC?
The IEC (Import-Export Code) is the first step for anyone starting an international trade journey. Without it, you cannot legally import or export goods/services.

2️⃣ IEC = PAN Card
With new regulations, your IEC is now linked and equal to your PAN. This means it directly reflects your business identity in foreign trade.

3️⃣ A Common Mistake!
Many business owners lend their IEC to friends or relatives for executing trade transactions. 🚫 Big risk!

4️⃣ Who is Responsible?
If remittances are delayed, not received, or FEMA compliance is breached — the IEC holder (you!) is accountable, not the person who used it.

5️⃣ Golden Rules
👉 Never share your IEC with anyone.
👉 Use it strictly for your own import-export transactions.
👉 Protect your IEC like you protect your PAN or Aadhaar.

💡 Remember: Your IEC is your business passport to the world 🌍.

Please make sure to handle it with care.
