Judge Chutkan grants Jack Smith's motion regarding Trump's absurd "advice-of-counsel" defense
Donald Trump and his criminal defense attorneys repeatedly have said that Trump may rely on an "advice-of-counsel" defense. In other words, Trump may claim that the crimes he committed on and around January 6, 2021, to try to overturn the results of the presidential election, were actually based on his attorneys telling him that what he was doing was lawful.
This video reviews the various contradictory claims by Trump, including that saying on the one hand that he was relying on the advice of counsel, and then turning around and saying he did not listen to his attorneys' advice but instead was listening to his "own instincts."
