Guantanamera by Celia Cruz Live at the Concert of the Americas

Live performance of Guantanamera by Celia Cruz and an all-star salsa band, including Cachao, Hilton Ruiz, Luis Enrique, Sheila E., Tito Puente, Cheito, Nestor Torres, Teddy Mulet, and Arturo Sandoval under the musical direction of Luis "Perico" Ortiz.

They are introduced by popular Latin American television hosts Cristina Saralegui and Don Francisco.

This was performed at James L. Knight Center during the 1994 Concert of the Americas, which was the culmination of the 1994 Summit of the Americas in Miami, Florida that hosted presidents from every western hemispheric nation--except the Stalinist dictatorship of Cuba.

Probably the best collection of salsa artists on one stage.

Interesting note: during the performance, Celia Cruz goes off-script and begs the heads of state gathered there: "Please, on behalf of my compatriots, I ask you not to help Fidel Castro any more so he can go away and leave us a Cuba free of communism." I personally asked her about this years later. She said that all artists were asked to refrain from expressing political messages, but she said she didn't care.

Apologies for the image quality, as this was ripped from a VHS tape.
