SAILING ISLAND PEARL: THAILAND TO THE MALDIVES

We are sailing SV Island Pearl II, an Amel 53 ft yacht, from Australia around the World.

At the time of releasing this, our first video, we were already 8 months into our circumnavigation voyage.

We started in Brisbane, Australia, sailed up through the Great Barrier Reef, across the crocodile filled top of Australia, through the beautiful remote Indonesian Archipelago, and met amazing people before arriving in Singapore.

From Singapore we sailed up Malaysia’s west coast, visiting interesting places such as Penang and Langkawi and spent two months cruising western Thailand, including Phuket.

Season One videos, (Ep 1-8) covering Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand will be created and uploaded separately during 2018.

This video, (Ep.9) is the first video in Season Two – “Sailing the Indian Ocean”. It commences in Phuket, Thailand, as we take on new crew, and prepare to cross the North Indian Ocean, a voy-age of approx.1650 nautical miles, to reach the beautiful Maldives Islands.

Here you experience what it is like to sail (in our case) across the surprisingly calm north Indian Ocean, past the Nicobar Islands and Sri Lanka and on to Male city, the capital of The Maldives.

During this crossing you will see us sail the boat, catch fish, cook on board and enjoy some amazing displays that the dolphins put on for us.

Our next videos will cover The Maldives Islands, as we cruise from one beautiful Atoll to another encountering beautiful beaches, sea life and sunsets, while meeting many lovely Maldivian peo-ple along the way. We experience the Maldives like none other, ie from the perspective of a pri-vate cruising yacht.

We have been absolutely blown away by the beauty and richness of this lovely country, and its friendly people and we look forward to sharing all of this with you.

After the Maldives video(s) our “Season Two – Sailing Across the Indian Ocean” series will con-tinue as we cover some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world, including Chagos, Rodriguez, Mauritius, Reunion and Madagascar before finally reaching South Africa.

Throughout our sailing voyage we will be filming the places, people, wild life and the experiences we see and enjoy, in order to share these experiences with you throughout the balance of 2018.
