Sailing Maldives - Part 1 - Ep.10

We are sailing SV Island Pearl II, an Amel 53 ft yacht, sailing around the World and want to share our experiences with you.

At the time of releasing this, our second video, we were already 15 months into our world circumnavigation, but only recently started producing videos from the huge amount of video content which we have built up over many thousands of sea miles. We look forward to sharing much of that with you in future videos.

We set off on this voyage from Brisbane, Australia in May 2017 and sailed up through Australia’s beautiful Great Barrier Reef, across the crocodile filled top of Australia, through the absolutely stunning most remote parts of the amazing Indonesian Archipelago, and met many amazing people before arriving in Singapore.

From Singapore we sailed on up Malaysia’s west coast, visiting interesting places such as Penang and Langkawi, and then spent two months cruising all around western Thailand, including Phuket.

Season One (2017) videos, (Ep 1-8) covering Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand will be created and uploaded separately during 2018.

This video, (Ep.10) our second video (of Season Two - 2018). Titled “Sailing the Maldives – Part 1”. It commences in Male, the capital of the Maldives, following on from our Thailand to Maldives, North Indian Ocean crossing video (EP.9). This is the first of two videos we will publish to provide our viewers with some unique insights to cruising in this absolutely wonderful cruising ground where so few foreign yachts seem to venture.

Here we try to give you a small unique insight into Maldivian culture, village life, and the things which made us fall so much in love with this beautiful country, its wonderful people and the absolute natural aquatic beauty of this amazing place. We spent around 70 days in the Maldives between February and May 2018, and to be frank, could easily have stayed here for a full year. It was certainly one of the highlights of our world cruise so far, and aside from the ridiculously huge costs imposed on private yachts visiting here, we cannot understand why so few yachts visit each year?

After the Maldives video(s) our “Season Two – Sailing Across the Indian Ocean (2018)” series will continue as we cover some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world, including Chagos, Rodriguez, Mauritius, Reunion and anchorages on both the east and west coasts of Madagascar before we finally reach South Africa where we will be till December 2018.

Throughout our sailing voyage we will be filming the places, people, wild life and the experiences we see and enjoy. We want to share these experiences with you throughout the balance of 2018 and hopefully beyond.
