1. AWS CloudHSM is a hardware security module that allows you to generate and use cryptographic keys on the AWS cloud.

2. A Hardware Security Module or HSM provides secure key storage and cryptographic operations within a tamper-resistant hardware device.

3. You can use the CloudHSM service to support a variety of use cases, such as database encryption, Digital Rights Management, Public Key Infrastructure, document signing, and transaction processing.

4. To use the AWS CloudHSM service you first have to create a CloudHSM Cluster. A cluster can contain multiple HSMs that are spread across multiple Availability Zones in a region. You receive dedicated access to each HSM in your cluster.

5. AWS CloudHSM lets you manage your keys on FIPS-validated hardware which is protected with single-tenant HSM instances that run in your own VPC. This helps you demonstrate compliance with security and privacy regulations such as PCI and GDPR.

6. There are no upfront costs to use AWS CloudHSM. You pay an hourly fee for each HSM you launch until you terminate it.
