AWS CloudTrail: 5 Things You Have To Know

AWS CloudTrail is an AWS service that enables operational and risk auditing of your AWS account.

Hi Guys, this is Abi from Gokce DB and in this video you are going to learn 5 things about CloudTrail in AWS. Let's get into it.

1. CloudTrail logs and monitors all activities and events that occur within your AWS account, including actions taken through the AWS Management Console, command line interface, and other AWS services.

2. When enabled, CloudTrail creates a log file for each API call made within your account, which includes information such as the identity of the user or resource making the call, the time of the call and the source IP address of the request. This information can be used to track changes to resources, troubleshoot operational issues, and detect potential security threats.

3. CloudTrail logs can be stored in S3 buckets or CloudWatch Logs. You can also use CloudTrail to create trails that apply to specific resources or regions, or to monitor multiple AWS accounts in a centralized location.

4. CloudTrail allows you to monitor, store, and validate activity events for authenticity and can easily generate audit reports required by internal policies and external regulations.

5. You can detect unauthorized access using the Who, What, and When information in the CloudTrail Events and have the ability to respond with rules-based EventBridge alerts and automated workflows.

In summary, CloudTrail events help you answer the question of "Who did what, where, and when?". It provides a comprehensive view of the activities taking place within your AWS account, which is important for maintaining security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
