First Australian repatriation flight from Israel touches down in Sydney

Friends and family have been reunited with loved ones at Sydney Airport after the first repatriation flight from Israel landed on Tuesday night.

Organised with the help of the Australian government, many are now far from the Israel- Hamas conflict and home and in the arms of loved ones instead.

The first mercy flight carried 222 Australians who left Israel amid ongoing conflict in the region following Hamas' brutal attacks on October 7.

Qatar Airways service QR7424 flew in from Dubai at about 6pm on Tuesday.

Emotions were high as people celebrated the return of their loved ones, some crying as they hugged each other in the waiting area.
