The Multi-center ESG Randomized Interventional Trial (MERIT) is the first randomized, controlled study evaluating the safety and efficacy of the Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) procedure. This 9-center, 208 patient study confirmed that ESG is significantly more effective than diet and exercise, with an average excess weight loss of 49% at 12 months, compared to 4% without the procedure.
