Mick Kolasa released his new studio album "Double Standards" on February 5, 2018. He did it under the umbrella of Swing Suit Records and with the worldwide promotion of the Californian company Frank Roszak Radio Promotions. Yes, the full name of this new musical story is Mick Kolassa And Friends, and they have given us their latest vision and form of presentation of well-known blues standards. So this album is a true and incredibly impressive story.

And who are your friends Mika Kolase (guitar and vocals)? Here they are: Sugarai Raiford, Heather Crosse, Victor Wainwright, Annika Chambers, Tas Cru, Tullie Brae, Eric Hughes (accordion), Erica Brown, Patti Parks, David Dunavent (guitar), Gracie Curran and Jeff Jensen, who also produced the album and played the guitar. They are accompanied by the following musicians: Bill Rufino (bass), James Cunningham (drums), Chris Stevenson (organ), Jeremy Powell (piano), Alice Hassan (violin) and Colin John (guitar). And yes, it was this team that recorded these 13 legendary blues compositions in a very effective way. They recorded it in their own special way and that's how they brought us this album. "Laid-back", "Old school" are just some of the names we can use to describe what we can hear and what we can expect from this album. Mick and his friends decided to relax with what they love most, which are traditional blues tunes, these are well-known and legendary blues songs, which we have heard in countless versions and performances, and now in front of us in this kind of relaxed, friendly atmospheres and atmospheres. All the more important and undoubtedly of better quality.

Mick Kolasa was born in Michigan and has lived in Mississippi for over 20 years. This means only one thing - a sure encounter with the blues, and for this very reason he became a big fan of the blues, a lover of this type of music that was originally characterized by immediacy and reality. In addition, this music has an incredible ability to attract and gather around it all blues lovers. Everyone who happens to be there knows what I'm writing about.

"Double Standards" is a great collection of blues compositions that reflect his love, but also the love of his friends, musicians and colleagues for all the styles that meet and break with this beautiful music. As I already wrote, a great musical team gathered around Mike again, so there is no reason why this album will be well received by critics and audiences around the world.

It's true that Mick and his collaborator, guitarist and producer Jeff Jensen, are incredibly honest and realistic about their full dedication and affection for the blues.

When you add to that the rest of the team, well-known names in the music industry, then there is no doubt that they all provided us with a very inspiring musical experience. This is confirmed by these 13 songs, regardless of the tempo and musical style of blues, each one is equally effective and special. Mick and company will knock you off your feet! Their strong joint performance will cause extremely strong vibrations, which every now and then make the listener sit up straight in the seat and think, well, that's exactly what a 'feeling' is, what a relaxed performance by musicians who simply have that "something", "they have that" mojo"... Absolutely all songs from the album will cause incredible reactions. Namely, you will only look around you and wonder if I heard correctly. Great, great atmosphere, sumptuous production, interesting arrangements are the main trump cards of the card, which will win over everyone blues lovers as well as all those who prefer similar musical forms.
