Laurence Jones - The Thrill Is Gone

From the Album: Thunder In The Sky, Year of Release: 2012
Lyrics: The Thrill Is Gone

The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you'll be sorry someday
The thrill is gone
It's gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although, I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be
The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
The thrill is gone baby
It's gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be open armed baby
Just like I…

Speaking on his latest offering, Jones comments:

“It’s been a long time in the making, and fans have been asking me for a decade to release a live version of ‘Thunder in the Sky.’” Jones exclaims, “It’s the first song I ever wrote; I was 16 years old… It’s what kickstarted my career, provided me with some amazing opportunities, and allowed me to support the likes of Johnny Winter, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy & Sir Van Morrison.”

“Ironically, I don’t like Thunder, it makes me uneasy. So, one night when there was thunder and lightning outside, I picked up my guitar and used those feelings, putting them into a song about losing someone”

Jones continues, recounting:

“I invited 200 dedicated fans to be a part of this special night at the Marshall Studio. I wanted to give something back for all the support they have shown me over the years. I owe a lot to this song, and it felt right to release it on its 10th year anniversary. ‘Thunder in the Sky’ is for the people and the blues.

‘Destination Unknown’ is out now via Marshall Records, available in Limited-edition Colour LP. Clocking in at forty-one minutes ‘Destination Unknown’ packs an effortless Rock punch whilst not forgetting this prodigy of Blues’ heritage.

It’s as much The Who as it is Joe Bonamassa and with Bennett Holland’s fantastic keys throws back to era where Jon Lord ruled supreme but at its core the record is tethered to melody. Melody is the undisputed secret weapon in Laurence Jones’ arsenal. Creating licks, riffs and choruses that will remain in your head long after the track has finished.

Recorded at The Marshall Studio in Milton Keynes, the record was produced by Laurence Jones, engineered by Marshall’s own Adam Beer, mixed by Chris Sheldon before the piece de resistance which saw the record mastered in the hallowed ground of Abbey Road by Christian Wright.
