SLEEP PARALYSIS: EXPLANATION AND PRAYER

*********************** ALTARS MADE BY OTHER PEOPLE
3 years ago I travelled to another country by myself. I stayed in a bed and breakfast type place in a room on my own. This room made me feel uncomfortable from the moment I walked in however, I didn't understand why. Every time I fell asleep I would experience sleep paralysis and have troubling dreams of something trying to oppose me, I sought the Lord in prayer for help and He showed me a vision of the previous occupants in the room who had committed the sin of fornication in the bed I was sleeping in. Immediately, I began to do warfare intercession to break down the altar that had been erected in that room by the lustful actions of the previous inhabitants, after I tore down this demonic altar I declared God's sovereignty and peace over the room and from that day onward I slept peacefully and was never troubled again on my holiday.

Similar to King Asa in the Bible I had to remove a foreign idol and experience God’s rest:

“Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God. He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He commanded Judah to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and to obey his laws and commands. He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him. He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the Lord gave him rest.”
2 Chronicles 14:2-6

Asa tore down the altar and established the place as the Lords! Therefore he experienced God's rest. The Bible makes it clear that there are always a demons operating behind an altar. We see this with King Josiah:

"He also tore down the altars dedicated to the GOAT DEMONS near the gate built by Joshua, the city governor, which was to the left of the main gate as one enters the city."2 Kings 23:4-8

In this incidence, I was getting sleep paralysis due to the spirit behind the altar that had been erected by the past occupants.

************************** ALTARS IN YOUR OWN HEART
However, sometimes people can experience sleep paralysis due to the altars that are erected in their OWN hearts.

If we keep sin and worldliness in our own lives we worship Satan and choose his way rather than God's. Such things open the door for demonic activity and torment. We can form altars by worshipping pornography, fornication, masturbation, ungodly parties, stealing, sexual immorality, anger, alcoholism, witchcraft, back biting, gossip, slander, etc.

We must repent, repentance is not just saying sorry and crying, repentance is TWO fold, acknowledging the wrong and TURNING and doing away with it!

2 KING 22:18-20 (God sees their weeping for their sin)

For repentance to be complete, we have to tear this idol down. None of our actions will have any impact whatsoever, until we pull down the idol that has taken hold of so many hearts.

************************** ALTARS IN THE BLOODLINE/FAMILY
Sometimes we also have to smash sinful altars down that are plaguing our bloodlines with curses due to the previous generational sins of our family:

"That night the Lord spoke to Gideon again:
Get your father’s second-best bull, the one that’s seven years old. Use it to pull down the altar where your father worships Baal and cut down the sacred pole next to the altar."
Judges 6:25

Before this, Gideon probably thought he had been sufficiently repentant. After all, he had cried out to the Lord. He had heard the prophetic word God sent to Israel. And he had responded to it fully, acknowledging his sin.

For many of us we are similar to Gideon, we have repented, followed God and are walking in his ways, however we still need to cast down certain things our family have worshipped if they don't know the Lord.

If we do not cast these things down, the curses of their sins can manifest in our lives through sleep paralysis, generational sickness, generational mental issues, generational divorce/sexual immorality. In order to break it we must repent for the sins of our forefathers and tear down these altars by standing on God's promises (Ezekiel 18:3-4) We must also stand on the promises we receive through Jesus Christ.
