Colorful fashion shoot inspired by #Pantone Color of the Year - Illuminating Yellow

Every year when Pantone announces the color of the year I set straight away to doing a fashion shoot and 2021 is no different!

I love when people are searching for the color of the year and come across my videos and it inspires them. 😃

When Pantone announces these colors it’s meant to be symbolic, but also meant to represent the trends that you’ll be seeing in the upcoming year. You’ll see it in media, interior design, clothing and much more.

It’s exciting to be part of the trend and put my spin on this gorgeous color!

Now I’m going all out with yellow on yellow on yellow with a gorgeous headpiece and dress, full on fashion mode to create this monochromatic image!

What sparked the inspiration for this shoot were flowers of course, so we set out to make a headpiece from pieces of Savage's Canary yellow backdrop (thanks to my amazing hairstyle Lin for putting this all together).

Lighting Setup: 👉

For this lighting setup I used 3 strobes

💡1 Main light: Large umbrella + diffusion (soft light source)
💡2x background: small white umbrellas

After some experimenting I moved the main light into almost a short light position in order to give more shadow and sculpting to the dress and headpiece for more dimension.

While this was a “simple” 3 light setup, it really required a larger space because the model not only was standing on a apple box, but also had a huge headpiece on making her extra tall, so I needed to be as far back as I could be to capture it all and having high ceilings helped a lot as well.
