Butterfly excision of endometriosis
In response to a request, here’s a video showcasing the "Butterfly Excision" technique—a term we use to describe the resection of the peritoneum over both pelvic side walls and the uterine torus, forming a butterfly-like shape. If the uterosacral ligaments are involved, they can also be excised as a part of this approach.
Excision is generally preferred over ablation in the management of endometriosis, as it allows for more complete removal of disease with clearer margins. It helps ensure that all visible and microscopic lesions are removed, improving long-term outcomes. Using the robotic platform, this can be done with precision and control.
