Bhu Bharati Portal: Telangana’s Step Towards Dispute-Free Land Ownership

The Telangana government is modernising land records through the Bhu Bharati portal to reduce disputes and secure farmers’ land rights. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the system provides permanent ownership backed by survey maps and unique Bhudhar numbers, ensuring confidence and clarity.

The first registration with a survey map was completed in Kusumanchi, Khammam district, where a land transaction included officially mapped boundaries and a Bhudhar number. The government aims to expand this system statewide.

As part of the reform, survey and registration departments are integrated under one platform. A pilot project launched on April 2 is currently running in five mandals across different districts.

Under the Bhu Bharati Act, attaching a survey map during land registration is now mandatory, while citizens can also apply for survey certificates voluntarily—marking a major step toward resolving land disputes permanently.
