taghoot ki tafseer - surah baqarah ayat 257 ki tafseer - quran Urdu translation - quranhinditarjuma

Surah Al-Baqarah (Chapter 2), Ayah 257, states:

Translation:
"Allah is the Protector of those who have believed – He brings them out from the darkness into the light. And those who disbelieve – their allies are Taghut, who bring them out of the light into darkness. It is they who are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally." (2:257)

Tafseer of "Taghoot":

Taghoot is derived from the Arabic root word "ṭ-gh-y," which means to exceed or go beyond limits. Taghoot refers to anything or anyone that exceeds the limits of worship or obedience that are due to Allah alone, such as false gods, tyrannical rulers, or any force that misguides people away from the truth of Allah.

The term can encompass multiple meanings depending on the context. In this verse, it primarily refers to powers, idols, or forces that lead people into disobedience and disbelief, pushing them away from the light of guidance that Allah provides.
Explanation in the Context of Surah Al-Baqarah 2:257:

Allah's guidance: The verse contrasts the guidance of Allah for the believers with the misguidance caused by Taghoot. Allah brings believers out of darkness (ignorance, disbelief) into the light (knowledge, faith).

Role of Taghoot: On the other hand, the disbelievers are under the influence of Taghoot, which leads them from the light (true guidance) to darkness (misguidance and disbelief). The verse makes clear that those who follow Taghoot are destined for eternal punishment in Hell, as they reject the truth of Allah's guidance.
Scholars' Views on Taghoot:

1. Ibn Kathir: He explains Taghoot as anything that is worshipped or obeyed other than Allah, whether idols, false gods, or even individuals like tyrannical rulers who oppose the commands of Allah.
2. Al-Qurtubi: He mentioned that Taghoot can also refer to Satan and his followers, as they are the ultimate sources of misguidance, leading people away from the worship of Allah.
3. Ibn al-Jawzi: He interpreted Taghoot as any authority that claims a position of divinity, whether through idols, superstitions, or oppressive rulers.
Key Lessons:

1. Guidance and Misguidance: Allah is the sole protector and guide for the believers, who are moved from ignorance to the light of faith, while those who turn to Taghoot are left in spiritual darkness.
2. Accountability: The verse highlights the responsibility of humans to choose their path carefully, either following the guidance of Allah or being led astray by forces of Taghoot, which leads to eternal consequences.
In conclusion, Taghoot in this verse represents all false authorities or powers that lead people away from the path of righteousness and true guidance, away from Allah's commands and towards darkness.
