The Lucky Avenger: A WWII Plane's Unique Story

Dive into history with the mighty Grumman TBM Avenger! ✈️ This iconic World War II aircraft featured a unique wing folding mechanism, carried impressive ordnance, and used its massive flaps for controlled landings. Originally carrying a pilot, radio operator/bombardier, later models even had a modified seat behind the pilot.

While many surviving Avengers served as fire bombers or crop dusters after World War II, this particular aircraft had a different journey. It served with the Canadian military in operations after WWII before being restored in Ocala, Florida, and now graces airshows under private ownership.

We're so grateful to Chief Pilot Job Savage for taking the time to share his valuable insights into this remarkable aircraft and for his ongoing efforts to keep this important piece of aviation history flying. Check it out!👇
