1984 Circuit of Ireland Rally (Billy Coleman Triumphant)

The Circuit of Ireland 1984 will go down in History as possibly one of Billy Colemans best ever Drives and Victories on only his second ever drive for DOTI in the Manta 400,all the Top Fancied Runners that were going for Victory with the exception of Billy Coleman failed to make it to the Finish in what has been reputed to be one of the Toughest Circuit of Irelands ever to take place, towards the end it looked like Austin Mchale in his DOTI Manta was going to take victory from his Teamate Billy Coleman after Billy drove cautiously on this Tough Event to preserve his Car particularly over the latter stages and in doing so possibly overcalculated his pacing of the Event to lie 71 sec behind McHale in 2nd place with just a handful of stages left as they left Service at The Mount Errigal Hotel Letterkenny on the Final Morning of the Rally,on the following Stage Billy took back 23 sec from his DOTI Teamate and suddenly the Race was back on and on the next Stage the Result was decided when the Engine went in Austin McHales Manta after sustaining damage following a hard landing,Billy went on to win by over 20 min in the end on what was a memorable weekend of Rallying and Videoactive were there to record the Event with expert Commentary by Alan Tyndall,we thank Pat Sullivan Carrignavar for the use of this Classic Footage,Enjoy.
