Who’s had a Rotator Cuff Repair of the Shoulder? Tell us the BEST and the WORST part of your experience.

Rotator Cuff Tears happen to folks in their 50s due to wear and tear and in young folks following high energy trauma. These tears can be technically difficult to repair especially when the tear pattern is complex or a retear occurs after a primary repair. Not only is it technically difficult perform but the repaired tendon has poor healing capabilities so it tends to not want to heal. For this reason we have to following sound repair principle and incorporate biological measures to improve the possibility of successful healing. Patient are also instructed to optimize their health with exercise, weight management, smoking cessation, optimizing blood sugar, maintaining good nutrition, following a strict rehabilitation program, sticking to a daily stretch routing, supplementing diet with collagen matrix supporting vitamins and much much more. Even in the best of hands retears still happen. As you can see, successful healing following rotator cuff surgery is much more complex than the carpentry work I alluded to in the video.
